A small number of our parents have contacted us asking if work could be sent into school for feedback. Unfortunately, we do not have the facilities to be able to do this; and to ensure consistency across our school community we need to be able to offer the same to everyone. However, we would love to see any work your child has completed posted to our Twitter account @CroslandJunior #homelearning so that we can celebrate home learning together. This is also a great forum for parents to share ideas with each other.
You should have received an email that will direct you how to continue your child’s home learning. Each year group has been provided with a range of learning activities for each subject in our curriculum. These activities link directly to our school curriculum that would be taught in the first part of the summer term, following Easter (6 weeks).
You are free to use these activities as you wish: they are only suggestions.
Please try not to worry about your child regressing in school. Please just do your best – what works for you and your family will be different to what works for other families. Every single child is in the same boat and they will be ok. When we are back in the classroom, we will adapt our curriculum to meet the children where they are.
A school district in Grand Cayman sent this message to their families: ‘If I can leave you with one thing, it’s this: at the end of all this, your child’s mental health will be more important than their academic skills. And how they felt during this time, will stay with them long after the memory of what they learned during these weeks at home is long gone.’
Please look after each other and care for one another.
